The fields and woods of this northwest Georgia farmland witnessed a clash between Confederates and Union soldiers in 1863. This clash would be the last major Confederate victory of the Civil War. The Battle of Chickamauga became the bloodiest two days of the Civil War. Today, over 5000 acres are preserved as the Chickamauga Battlefield.
A Visitor Center includes a 20-minute orientation film and numerous exhibits. Major points of interest can be reached by following the seven-mile auto tour.
